Race day was quite cold but practically zero wind at the lake which was great. Race started/ended in Coronation Park with out & backs west along the Goodman Trail. It was an open course but not too many other runners, strollers, etc.
My intention was to practice pacing slower than 10k but faster than a half. I experimented running on feel not checking pace or splits. It felt great to see my Garmin showed 4:37 average pace. That was a bit quicker than the BRC 15k time trial in March.
I held back a little in this race as GoodLife marathon is coming up. I also used my watch’s metronome for cadence but have to admit it’s difficult to hear and it doesn’t really vibrate enough.
I proudly wore my BRC colours! It was a good morning overall and I was happy with my chip time of 1:09:06.
